Support Lakewood Elementary
For neighbors, parents, grandparents, alumni families, and local businesses who want to back Lakewood Elementary and the dads who show up for it.
Friends of Lakewood (FOL) is the dads' organization for Lakewood Elementary School in Dallas, founded in 1982, with more than 1,000 members raising over $100,000 a year.
You don't need a kid at Lakewood to give.
What does your donation pay for?
Classroom supplies. Teacher training. Staff appreciation and holiday gifts for teachers, staff, and cafeteria workers. Crossing guards. Math Maniacs, the before-school math program. Field Day, the Fall Fest Haunted House, and the White Rock Spring Games. The end-of-year award lunch.
And college scholarships for graduating seniors who came up through Lakewood and stayed in the neighborhood public schools all the way through.
Where does the money actually go?
Last year's dads-and-kids campout paid for new soccer goals on the field at Lakewood.
This fall, neighborhood kids are training on those goals in Lakewood Football Club, FOL's new soccer program for PreK through 5th grade.
That's the shape of most of it. Dads raise money doing something they'd want to do anyway, and it turns into a thing kids use every day.
Can my business sponsor FOL?
FOL runs bowling and softball leagues for dads, the Mark Parks Golf Tournament, a soccer club, the fall and spring campouts, Father-Daughter and Mother-Son dances, and the Fall Fest Haunted House. All of it reaches an engaged, local audience of Lakewood families.
We're early enough that a sponsor gets to help shape what sponsorship looks like here rather than picking a package off a shelf.
Email David Askenase, our VP of Sponsors for more info.
Who am I actually giving to?
Friends of Lakewood. FOL is an independent 501(c)(3) run by Lakewood Elementary dads, not part of the school or Dallas ISD.
Gifts are unrestricted, so FOL decides where each one lands. Some goes to the school directly, as classroom supplies or a teacher lunch. Some funds the events FOL puts on for Lakewood kids and families. Some goes to college scholarships for graduating seniors who came up through the neighborhood schools.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. Friends of Lakewood is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, EIN 33-3371880. Donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law, and you'll get a receipt by email.
